An extensive series of endurance tests at our facility in Ostend is behind us. Many, many, many hours in a row, we tested our latest ultra-high-pressure pump and our newest cutting heads at 4.000bar. And everything is holding up well, just perfectly.
The pump was developed and built by renowned manufacturer Hammelmann GmbH of Germany. They too have run the pump for many hundreds of hours on their test stand at full load. And there, too, the pump passed all tests with flying colours.
The cutting heads we developed in-house are designed for a working pressure of up to 6.000bar. Matter of having some reserve….
With our latest 4.000bar pump, we achieve cutting speeds so high that we cut an average jacket pile in less than an hour.
Why do we do all this? For you dear customer! And we are sure you appreciate it! When cutting work is carried out in the offshore world, it is almost always time critical. From the moment we start cutting the legs of a platform, there is no way back. This is because cutting reduces the stability of the platform. The floating crane can only stabilise and lift the platform within a limited weather window. And in our seas, calm weather windows are increasingly rare and last less time due to global climate change. And no one wants and will compromise safety. That is why cutting speed and cutting quality are becoming increasingly important. And that is exactly why we are investing in the 4,000bar technology.
