Just outside the old city part of Ghent, works were in progress to place a pipeline under the Scheldt river. On both sides, the reception pits were being prepared for the pipeline to depart and arrive.
For the contractor, it was of the utmost importance that the sheet piles were watertight. The floor and the connections with the quay were no problem, but water kept flowing through the locks of the sheet piles. That is why we were invited.
With a special resin, the locks were sealed one by one from the surface to the bottom. The pumps were started and then it was “finding leaks”.
The job was done in one day.
